How long do staff stay at the school?
Teachers sign a 3 year contract, a term which is extended by many. Most of our teachers have regularly renewed contracts and have been a part of our community for more than 10 years.
The retention rate of our overall staff; both academic and administrative is commendable.
Where are teachers recruited from?
Our teaching staff are recruited from some of the top independent schools and from other International Schools throughout the world. The staffing body includes teachers from the Arab world as well as Asia and the West amongst others. Teacher’s Assistants may be recruited locally and there is a diverse mix of cultures within locally hired staff. The school receives a large number of applications for teaching positions and teachers are appointed exclusively on merit.
Is there a school canteen?
We have six canteens spread over the entire campus which caters to students from the KGs to Grade 12. We ensure that healthy snacks and light sandwiches are provided. Fresh fruits and juices are also available.
What is the average floor area of your class rooms?
The floor area of a general classroom is between 25m2 and 30m2 and for a specialist classroom the average floor area is 120m2. For more information about our school click here.
Does T.I.S. offer a lunch programme?
A: Yes, meals, drinks and snacks are available using pre-paid cash. Students are welcome to bring their own food and drinks if preferred. This is only applicable for the Lower and Upper Primary School sections.
Is after schools child care provided?
We do have an after schools care program. Playground care is provided before schools from 7.00 a.m. After schools hours, all children who remain on schools grounds are supervised by an adult. However, after 3.30 p.m. students should be picked up by their parents. In case of further delay, the parents are called up by the schools administration and notified of the delay.
How are extra-curricular activities signed up for?
Our extra-curricular Activities Programs (ECAs) run on a termly basis for all students from KG2 – Grade 12. The activities on offer vary per term.
Parents are emailed with details of the programs on offer for the forthcoming term, and then encouraged to sign up for activities via the schools Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
What festivals are observed at the school?
Thamer International Schools recognizes the diversity of cultures in Saudi Arabia and even in each child’s own class –and provides opportunities for all children to learn about and respect other cultures.
This is introduced right from the KGs to Grade 12 via a variety of cultural programs like the International Day, Haj and Eid Celebration ring in spirituality and festivity.
Parents and staff are from a diverse variety of cultural backgrounds, and are encouraged to contribute their knowledge and culture to enhance the overall program.
When does the academic year begin?
The advent of the academic year is subject to the schedule assigned by the Minister of Education, KSA. Schools usually commences after a long summer break during the months of August-September.
How long do students stay at the school?
As with all international schools, we have a regular turnover of students most of whom start from the KGs and continue their schooling till they graduate in Grade 12. Moreover, we have many strategies in place to help students with their transition to and from life at T.I.S. and in KSA and as such, our community warmly welcomes and accepts newcomers.
What nationalities are represented by the students?
Our schools community comprises students from over 47 different nationalities. Students from the Far East, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Americas, and Europe speaking diverse languages form an integral part of T.I.S.
