"If we encounter a man of rare intellect, we should ask him what books he reads". – Ralph Waldo Emerson
At Thamer International Schools, a great amount of emphasis is given to reading. Reading for leisure or for academic purpose is highly recommended and students are encouraged to use the library.
The school library supports the instructional program by encouraging students to do supplemental reading in both Arabic and English. The library consists of a plethora of books pertaining to various subjects.
The encyclopedias and reference materials in the library are used for research reports in class and then students are assigned research reports to be done at home through the use of their home computer. Media equipment is also available in the Biology/Chemistry Laboratory which is used as a re-teaching method for abstract concepts such as DNA synthesis, etc. English Books, Arabic Books, Islamic Books, Encyclopedias, Holy Quran, Thesauruses, Dictionaries, Globes can all be easily accessed by the students with the guidance of a professional librarian who is always present to help the students.
Moreover, students can also watch documentaries and films with appropriate themes to hone their speaking and listening skills. Students use these movies or documentaries to prepare their reports and hold a discussion in class related to the characters and themes of the film that they have been assigned .
